My Daybook, Entry #28: Birthday Edition

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Wednesday, April 7, 2010...

Outside my window... Today was a beautiful sunshiny day - in the 70s!!

I am thinking... as we get older, birthdays don't seem to have the same excitement that they do as a child!

I am thankful for... Pops', my kids', and my folks' excitement for my birthday today. Without their excitement it might have been an awful lot like any other normal day!

From the learning rooms... we are on break again!! I love making our own schedule! We don't take off an entire summer, though - so that we can take big breaks when we have company

From the kitchen... my "big meal" plans

Wed: Grilled New York Strip Roast, potatoes and peas
Thurs: Seafood Buffet - quite a treat for my flat lander family!
Fri: Hmmm... we'll have to take a vote on this day!
Sat: Pops and I will be out of town with Bump... Geemah will be on duty... maybe they'll have spaghetti - a hit for all kids and an easy one to make!
Sun: I'm guessing hamburger helper with the rest of a package of ground beef!
Mon: I am seriously curious what they might eat... maybe they'll go out to have a break for Geemah!

I am wearing... Jeans and a t-shirt, bare feet!

I am creating... a little gift for Branch and some gifts for a friend are cookin' up in my mind for when I return home next week!

I am going... to Cabo San Lucas with Pops (and Bump, too). We fly out Saturday and return home Wednesday.

I am reading... weather in Cabo is looking promising!!

I am hoping... that going on this trip with a baby is fun and relaxing.

I am hearing... croaking frogs. The windows are OPEN!!

Around the house... Laundry is caught up - except for the kids' things that are not brought to the laundry room. How do you get your kids to get their dirty laundry where it belongs?!!

One of my favorite things... kids' excitement over lighting candles on a cake! There were A LOT of candles lit on my cake!

A few plans for the rest of the week... Geemah, Grampa and Aunt JoJo are here visiting, Grampa and Aunt JoJo leave on Saturday, Pops and I (with li'l Bump) leave Saturday, Geemah will have the reins for the big kids and they are super excited! I can't wait for the run down of what they did while we were away!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...

Getting the Sunday paper is a "race"...
Everyone wants to be the first to tear into the paper to get the comics! It apparently does not matter if you're in your jammies and can't find a pair of shoes other than the too big snow boots sitting by the door!!

To read more daybooks or to join in the fun, head over to Peggy's.

  1. Happy Birthday!
Yeah, I have a hard time getting my two to bring their laundry out of their rooms, or put it away, or even worse, when I am putting dirty, stinky, laundry IN the washer, I find clothes folded...that I know they didn't wear, in with the dirty clothes. My rule is this: If I find folded, clean clothes in your laundry, you get one warning...after that, I make YOU do your own laundry. If you don't bring it to the laundry room when I ask, then you go naked. Simple as that ;)

  2. The picture of Branch & her chic attire for getting the Sunday paper brought such a smile to my face! :o) Enjoy your family's visit, plus hope your get-a-way with Pops & Bump is relaxing, fun-filled, & hassle-free!
    Love, Aunt S.

  3. I really want to say something snotty, since you get to go to Cabo... but I am honestly happy for you, so I won't. ;) Think of me as you are sitting on the beach sipping something yummy.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
