I am up against the wire. Nothing new there, I guess! The newness is in my indecision. Let me fill you in. Our county fair is right around the corner and for the first time ever in my life, I am entering some things into the open class exhibits!! I am actually fairly excited. But, I am stuck... I can only enter one photo into each class and there are 3 classes that I have two photos that I happen to like quite a bit. Would you help me choose?!?!! Just leave me a comment so that I know which ones you think that I should chose. DON'T BE SHY! I need your help. I have to have these ready to go in the next 24 hours! YIKES.
BONUS Contest: If you leave a comment before 10 AM on Saturday with your "picks" I will enter you into a random drawing contest. I will be giving away your favorite photo - any of the ones I have posted on this here blog, Just leave in your comment "All time favorite: description of photo you'd like to have printed if you were to win". Thanks all for your help!!
#1 Class: Buildings & Structures
"Sturdy Gertie" - a bridge crossing the Tacoma Narrows
OR
Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza, Mexico
#2 Class: Animals, Fish, Fowl & Reptiles
Galapagos Turtle
OR
Macaw
(If you are a person in the know about photos entered into fair contests, would this Macaw fit into the class "Portrait, pet" even if it isn't an individual's pet per se? It is sitting on the hand of a handler at our local zoo. But I do know that many people have these birds as pets...)
#3 Class: Portrait, people, family OR Individual Person?? not sure... never done this!
Bud
OR
Blossom
I have decided on the following photos as possible entries and don't have more than one in the class that I can't choose between, but thought perhaps you'd enjoy seeing what the other entries might be! Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions on these, too!
Class: Abstract
Class: Action
Class: Human Interest
Class: Sunrise, sunset
macaw and blossom. . . cant decide on the first one. dont know if it matters but the actual name of the bridge is tacoma narrows bridge (you probably know that and that is why sturdy girdie is in quotes, but just in case. i like the sky of the mayan one but the actual bridge structure. i think either of those would be great

Mayan ruins, Macaw, wet Blossom and LOVE the Action one! You are quite the budding photographer! Do you have any of these framed and hanging in your house??
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
Mayan ruins, Blossom and Macaw! Of course, I love 'em all. But you made me choose. Love, G.
ReplyDeleteErica, I would go with Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza, Mexico. The way the clouds center perfectly as if a stair case to heaven. Just think this one would do well for you. Arlene
ReplyDeleteI would also definately go with Blossom, and the turtle seem more unique so I would go with that

Ok here goes:
ReplyDelete1. Sturdy Gertie
I chose this one because I love the actual visual interest of the structure and the angle of the camera. Not just the colors.
2.Macaw
3.Blossom
I love the Human Interest one. It is beautiful!
Good luck! You are so gonna win!!!!!
I liked the Bridge (it's a unique perspective and beautiful lighting)

wet Blossom
but, I'm not a professional or even amteur photographer. They all were neat to see!
Study Gertie--it's more local and I think has a better chance because of that.
ReplyDeleteMacaw--the contrast makes it stand out better.
Blossom--The one of Bud is great, but the Blossom one stands out more.
If chosen, I'd love a copy of the Chichén Itzà staircase.
Hi Erica,
ReplyDeleteMayan Ruins - very cool.
Macaw - colorful
Bud - so clear - beautiful boy.
All time favorite: Sunrise, sunset.
All are excellent photos!

I am not going to be a bit of help, because I think they're all absolutely beautiful!!! You are an amazing photographer - way to go!!! :) <3
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm too late I know, but I really liked Sturdy Gertie... After entering photos in various contest and fairs, I have found that judged like a picture that shows detail, depth, and color as Sturdy Gertie does. Of course, if you chose the Mayan Ruins, you're not at a loss as that, too, is a fantastic photo. But Sturdy Gertie really seems to shine out! Great job!
I also love how the Blossom picture shows a unique setting for a portrait. You'd be surprised at how many portraits are entered in contests... there's always a lot of competition! But this one of Blossom is unique and really stands out with those water droplets and the finger over her lips. Another great one to frame in your home!
Good luck!
WOW! I'm late arriving but just wanted to offer my compliments on some BEAUTIFUL pictures!
